Level 1 “Introduction to Sports Data Protection” is the first certification program offered by the SDA focused on introducing best practice and general principles for those involved in the Sports industry . This certification forms the foundation for subsequent certification level and focuses on the practical and commercial skills focused on respect, reputation and responsibility when using data and digital in sports. The 4-hour certification program involves a practical training course (75%) and examination (25%) with multiple-choice and short-answer to case studies.

The Level 1 certification does not require specific reading preparation. However there are a number of useful learning materials on the website that may assist candidates, depending on your level of experience. We would recommend candidates familiarize themselves with the following pre-reading:
Results are mailed to candidates within 2 weeks of the exam. Should you need to re-sit the exam the Re-Take Fee is US$100 (or equivalent in your local currency). This fee covers the administration, online testing and manual grading required for the exam.
The certification will be valid 5 years and you will be presented with an official “Certificate of Completion”.
Candidates may additionally seek to complete the more advanced Level 2 course (similar format) which focuses on the Management of Sports Data and Sports Digital within the sports environment (e.g. processes, governance, reporting, more technical and leadership focused than Level 1). This is suitable for people with 5+ years industry experience.
