Section 1: About the Certifications


Do I have to compete all both levels?

No. Candidates can undertake Level 1 or Level 2 of the certification program, or both.

Are there any prerequisites required for an SDA Exam?

There are no educational or professional work prerequisites needed to register for Level 1 or Level 2.

How do I enrol in Level 1 or Level 2?

Candidates register online for an exam.

How much do the Certifications Cost?

For each Certification Level, there is an exam fee. The exam costs $300 USD per level (equivalent local currency)

What is the Exam format?

The Certification program is complete online for Level 1 and Level 2. Both certification are conducted in a 4-hour window — 3-hours for training course (75% of allotted) time and 1-hour for an online multiple-choice-based examination (25% of allotted time).

What languages can I take the SDA exams in?

The SDA exams are offered in English only. SDA is aware that not every candidate’s native language is English. In the exam development process, SDA makes every effort to ensure that questions are written in a clear, concise form and avoids the use of colloquialisms or other terms and phrases that might confuse a non-native English speaker.

How many hours are required to prepare for the SDA Exams?

Candidates’ preparation times will vary based on their professional experience, academic background, and familiarity with the concepts tested on the curriculum. There is no expectation of preparation for Level 1 or Level 2 exams.

What is the CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT? 

The Candidate Responsibility Statement is an ethical oath required by all SDA Candidates.

What is the SDA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Candidates and Certification Holders?

The SDA is a Professional Body and it expects that all SDA Candidates and Certification Holders maintain high standards of personal and professional ethics and conduct. Therefore, all SDA Candidates and Certification Holders must abide by the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Section 2: Payment

When is the deadline to register and pay for SDA Certification Course?

The Certification courses are available online 365 days a year.

What are the Payment Options?

You will be required to make a credit card payment during the Certification Course registration process. If you are unable to do this, please contact us at info@sportsdataacademy.com

Can I get a refund?

Typically candidates will defer an exam rather than request a refund, see Exam Deferral under Section 3 of the FAQ.

Can I transfer my SDA Certification course registration to another candidate?

Yes. Candidates can transfer a registration to another candidate.

Do I need to pay an annual fee for each certification I've passed?

No. There is no annual fee payable for each Certification Holder.

Section 3 – Certification Course Policies

What type of computers are allowed to be used for the online Certification?

All computer types will work, provided it has access to the Internet.

Do I need identification documents?

Yes. You will need an original, non-expired form of government issued photo ID (e.g. passport or drivers licence).
Upon commencing the certification, you will be required to upload a digital photocopy of this government issues photo ID.

Can I defer my Certification course?

Yes. Simply email customer support and we can defer your certification.

How can I request Special Accomodations?

To request special accommodations, please email info@sportsdatainstitute.com. Requests must be made at least 6 weeks prior to an certification exam sitting and supporting documentation must be provided prior to special accommodations being granted. Although the SDA is committed to making its certification course accessible to everyone, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that all requests for special accommodations will be granted.

Section 4: Certification Day Experience

How should I prepare for Exam day?

  • Check what time your Exam starts.
  • Be prepared to present an original, non-expired form of government issued photo ID (Typically a driver’s license or a passport).
  • Ensure the name on your online admission ticket matches the name on your ID.

What should I bring on Exam Day?

A Candidate should bring the following items with them on the day of the Certification course:

  • A DIGITAL copy of your certification registration ticket.
  • An original, non-expired form of government issued photo ID. We recommend a driver’s license or a passport.
  • There is no need to bring any writing instruments.

What is a typical exam dam schedule?

8:00 am Candidates check-in online.
8:15 am Certification training course begins (online) (3 hours)
11:15 am Certification training completed
11:30am – 12:30pm — Multiple choice exam (1 hour)

Can I bring my Cell /Mobile Phone?

No. Phones or any form of communication device are not permitted whilst you are sitting the online certification and exam.

When can I leave my desk during the Certification?

If you finish the Certification and Exam before the end of the allotted time, you may leave the online testing room.

What Items can be taken into the certification room where I'm sitting the online course?

  • Wallet or purse (any larger bags must be left at the front of the room).
  • Eye-glasses and earplugs.
  • Medicine, tissues and other medically necessary items.

Section 5: Sports Data Institute Certification Process

How can I use the Sports Data Protection certification designation?

  • After your full name in written correspondence and/or as part of your email signature.
  • After your full name on business cards, letterheads and/or name plates.
  • As an identifier in resumes, curriculum vitaes, biographies, personal statements and/or published articles.
  • The SDA Designations should only be used as follows:

    • Certified Sports Data Protection.
    • CSDP.
    • Sports Data Protection Qualified – Certified by the Sports Data Academy.

    Examples

    • For the Certified Sports Data Protection – the following is recommended: John Doe, CSDP.

How do i display my digital badge

With your Certificate of Sports Data & Digital Protection from the Sports Data Academy, you can increase the visibility of your Certification by placing the digital badge on your favorite professional or social networks, a blog, or website. Wherever you choose to place your badge, the information (image as shown below) will be displayed to validate your achievement. By displaying this digital badge, potential employers, recruiters, and other contacts will immediately recognise your skills and achievement.
